Style Me in Seconds* comes to Woking

Woking Hospice shop is having a makeover and to mark the changes are inviting shoppers to have a makeover with them!

Shop Management is excited to announce that in August 2016 it is launching a new Vintage section in the charity shop based at 2 Commercial Way. For the grand opening on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th August, the shop is recreating an event held earlier in the year by the Charity Retail Association. The event was called ‘Style me in Seconds’ and allowed passers-by at Old Street Tube Station to have a professional fashion makeover including hair and nails and then a photo shoot to capture the moment afterwards. This was all for free although contented customers were encouraged to buy the outfits they were recommended, and this money went to the charities involved.

Inspired by the West Byfleet Shop Manager Jo Marsh’s appearance at the London event, after her portfolio impressed the committee organising it, the two-day bonanza will give Woking shoppers the same chance to have their own mini make over courtesy of clinique™ by our in-house professional stylists, completely free of charge. At the end of the session they will be invited to buy the outfits and also make a voluntary contribution to the hospices if they wish.

Speaking about the shop reshuffle, which will affect the permanent bridal section, Area Shops Manager Chantelle Milne explains:

“After much deliberation we have decided to remove the permanent bridal section. Although our recent bridal event held earlier this year was a great success, overall the bridal area of the shop is only visited on odd occasions. We’ll be changing the main focus of this area of the shop by introducing a vintage and retro homewares section and expanding our vintage clothing allowing us to maximise the fantastic vintage and retro items that our supporters donate. We are excited to unveil the stock of vintage fashion and homewares that we are currently collecting in preparation. The bridal section is certainly not gone for good and we hope to relaunch it in a different and exciting context later in the year.”

The event will take place during shop opening hour 9.30am-5pm. For more information on the day, come and see the Style me in Seconds team who will be signing people up at the stand in Mercia Walk. Appointments can also be made prior to the event; email to enquire or go online to
