Bobby Davro brings in crowds and cash

Bobby Davro’s Comedy Gala took place on Sunday 9th October 2016 in support of our Hospices, and was once again a rip-roaring success, enjoyed by the audience and volunteers alike.

The crowd were in good humour to watch as a plethora of diverse acts took to the stage from Bobby’s edgy stand up, to the music of Elio Pace as Billy Joel, Jim Davidson and Paul Zerdin also took their turn under the limelight. Surprisingly, singer Lee Mead took to the stage during the night for an impromptu performance!

Wendy Denty, Community Fundraiser for the Hospices said: “It was great to see a really diverse audience and the feedback when people were exiting was that they hadn’t laughed so much in ages. Special thanks to Bobby Davro for organising this big calendar event on our behalf, and we look forward to welcoming him back in 2018.”

The evening raised within the region of £25,000. The event, which has been running for almost a decade, has raised thousands over the years for the charity which Bobby Davro has supported for many years after his mother was cared for at Sam Beare Hospice. Fans of the Comedy Gala can look forward to its return in 18 months.
