Dr Emily Sills MBChB FRCP MSc
Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Medical Director
Emily has been a consultant in Palliative Medicine since 2011. She started working at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices in 2012 where she was the lead consultant at Woking Hospice in-patient unit. She took on the role as Medical Director in September 2016.
Emily completed her medical training at Sheffield University and initially did her training jobs in South Yorkshire. It was during her year working as a doctor in Australia that she experienced palliative medicine and made the decision to pursue further training in this specialty. She completed her specialist training on the South Thames rotation, working in numerous hospices and with hospital palliative care teams in South London.
As well as being Medical Director, Emily still continues to have clinical sessions and has an active role in supporting the clinical team on both the in-patient unit and in the community. She has been working closely with the team at Chase Shooting Star children’s hospice and other local adult hospices over the past two years to develop a transition service for young people. Emily is also keen to develop the research capacity of the hospice and is collaborating with three local hospices to take this forward.
