Alan “Dowse” Dowson, manager of Woking Football Club, visited the hospice on Friday 8 February to film his “Friday catch up” where he announced that he will be swapping his football shirt for a running vest to take part in the Surrey half Marathon on Sunday 10 March to raise funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be running for the hospice it’s so important that we support our local community in this way” commented Alan “We visited last week to have a tour of the hospice and the work they do is so important for us all.”
The Surrey Half Marathon starts and finishes opposite the Football club at Woking Leisure Centre, the single lap marathon is a fast flat course that takes in the beautiful surrounding countryside.
“We are delighted that Alan has chosen to run for us at the Surrey half Marathon” commented Phil Wormley, Fundraising Director at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices “Support like this is vital for us to continue to provide care, the £250 sponsorship target helps fund four and half hours of care from our Nurses out in the community”.
We still has places available for the Surrey half Marathon, 5k race and kids race so if you would like to run alongside Alan on 10 March there are lots of options available you can find out how you can get involved here.
