We are proud to announce from 04 July 2018 that Tim Stokes has been elected Chairman by unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees with immediate effect.
Tim takes the helm from Marc Riggs, who was appointed a Trustee in 2012 and elected Chairman in November 2015. The hospice is delighted that Marc will continue as a Trustee.
Announcing the changes Jayne Cooper, Chief Executive, said: “Marc has been Chairman during a period of substantial change and transition for us as we moved to our new location in Goldsworth Park, Woking. Marc’s expertise and support has been invaluable. I extend a huge amount of thanks and gratitude to Marc and I am very pleased he will continue to serve on the Trustee Board.”
Tim Stokes joined the Board in March 2017 after working for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices as a consultant for two years. During this time he developed a deep understanding of the work of the hospice, and the wider hospice movement, at a local and national level.
Jayne Cooper adds: “The Board and I are delighted with the appointment of Tim Stokes as Chairman. We have recently developed our Five Year Strategy and I know Tim will provide his support and experience to the management team in ensuring its implementation. All of us at the hospice are looking forward to working with Tim in his new role.”
Commenting on his appointment Tim Stokes, Chairman, said: “I am delighted to accept this appointment. I am very much aware of the challenges and opportunities that exist for us. With the full support of my Board colleagues I will draw on my experience and I will work to support the senior management team in the delivery of our strategy.
“It is our vision to ensure that anyone who needs our care is able to access it, at the time they need us, and in the place of their choosing. With approximately 80% of our care delivered in patient homes, this is a huge undertaking to provide across the six Surrey Boroughs we cover. But we will continue to strive to reach all community groups and we will always put our patients and our community at the heart of all we do.”
