We are excited to announce that at our ‘Opening up your hospice’ event on Saturday 06 April, UK pioneering contemporary choir, Rock Choir – will perform some of their hit numbers.
We are delighted to welcome some of the members of the Woking, Weybridge, Staines-upon-Thames, Camberley and Alton Rock Choir at our open day on Saturday 06 April from 12:00 – 12:30pm.
Danny Gortler, Rock Choir Leader, comments: “The work of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices is a lifeline to so many people, so it is our pleasure to be able to support this charity at its open day. The whole concept of Rock Choir is all about the power of music, meeting new friends and performing at life changing events.”
We are hosting a series of five consecutive open Saturdays, of which there are still three to come [Saturday 30 March, Saturday 06 April and Saturday 13 April].
Jayne Cooper, CEO of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices, adds: “There are very often misconceptions about what a hospice is and what we do. For instance many people are not aware that we are a charity and that we provide a range of care and support services for over 2,000 patients, their carers and families each year free of charge. As a charity we are reliant on voluntary income and from the sale of goods in our shops. Our open Saturdays are therefore an opportunity to open our doors to North West Surrey, which is the community we serve. All are invited to drop in and find out more about us, while sampling the delights of our café and shop.
“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Rock Choir on Saturday 06 April and I would like to extend a note of thanks to Danny Gortler and all his wonderful singers and musicians who will be performing on the day. Please do visit us for what will be a real treat.”
As part of the open Saturdays it will be possible for visitors to be taken on short tours of the hospice on the hour/every hour, accommodating a maximum of 10 people per tour on a first come bases. The first tour will start at 10am and the last tour will take place at 2pm. Visitors will be shown the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre, a bedroom and family room on the In-Patient Ward and the Education Centre.
Members of staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and there will also be refreshments in our Hospice Café, a range of gifts to purchase in our shop, as well as Easter treats for children. To find out more visit www.wsbhospices.co.uk/open.
