Tom Harris of Windsor Way, Woking has lit up the sky with a illuminations extravaganza to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. Tom 24 has installed more than 900,000 lights on his house covering the walls, roof, chimney, front garden and fences.
The current record held in the world for the most amount of lights on a residential property was in New York state in the US, with 601,736 lights. This means that Tom cleared this record by a large amount and is now the current Guinness Record holder.
On Saturday 1 December Tom held a launch of the switch on of the lights where lots of families turned out from the community to show their support. There was a firework display, bands playing live music, a hot food van and a candyfloss machine. Father Christmas also made an appearance. Present was a Guinness World Records adjudicator to confirm his new record.
Tom chose to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices with donations being made at the launch party and also for people to go and look at the lights. The house still available to go and view the address is Windsor Way, Woking Gu22. We would like to say a massive congratulations to Tom for breaking the record and also a big thank you for choosing to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.
