Mizens Minature Railway in Knaphill have again hosted our annual Family Fun day and for the first time this year we invited all families who have been bereaved in the last 12 months to join us.
It was a lovely sunny day with lots of fun activities for all ages including a piñata, hook-a-duck, face painting, swing-ball and football and everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch together.
The main event of the day is when all children and adults if they wish are invited to paint a stone in memory of their loved one. Everyone then rode the trains together to the Woking Hospice Tree, where the families placed their stones around the tree and some said a few words about their loved ones.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Mizens Railway” commented Paula Mitchell, Children’s Services at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices “It has been such a wonderful day and they are all so kind and welcoming to us when we visit”.
