The annual family fishing match in aid of Woking and Sam Beare Hospice and Wellbeing Care, organised by Sean Mitchell, took place on took place at Shamley Green on Sunday 8 September and helped raise over £2,000.
The match was as always run with great spirit, some competitive banter and great generosity. Many competitors this is the only match they fish whilst others fish competitions regularly.
The junior winner, Hayden, was catching so well he was heard shouting across the lake “can I win the adult and junior competitions?” The answer was no, but in a few years’ time he will probably claim the adult title too, as he also won the under 16s category three years ago.
The other lucky winners were:
1st Roger Bell – 57lb
2nd Robert Poulton 52lb
3rd Stuart Sadd 48lb
U16 Winner: Hayden P. with 42lb
Biggest Fish: Charlie Cusack with a 12lb carp
Mystery Weight winner: Sean Mitchell
Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everyone who took part to make this a truly memorable day of fun fundraising fishing day for the hospice.
