11-17 June is Carers week , a carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction who cannot cope without your support.
There are an incredible 6.5 million carers across the UK.
At Woking & Sam Beare Hospices we recognise the role of a carer and can offer support through a range of services in the hospice and local community. To mark Carers week and show our support we will be holding these events.
Thursday 14 June 10.30am – 3pm is Complimentary Therapies Day for carers of our patients in the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre at the hospice.
Offering a well deserved pampering session, including massages and therapies there will also be goody bags and cakes for everyone who attends.
Booking is required so please contact Nicola at nicola.morgan-savage@NHS.net or call 07467 941505 to make your appointment.
Friday 15th June 10am – 12pm is a drop in coffee morning and we invite all local carers to enjoy a hot drink and cake at the Hospice café, the first 50 will receive a free hot drink and a slice of cake ( vouchers will be at reception).
There will also be a chance to visit our Information Hub to receive advice from our social worker about what support may be of help to you and how caring is impacting your life along with the chance to meet other carers and hopefully enjoy the sunshine in the hospice garden.
