Woking & Sam Beare Hospices are working with Giveacar , a social interprise which collects unwanted and unused cars for charity - turning scrap into cash.
Giveacar.co.uk is a company that raises money for charities by accepting donations of unwanted cars. It is a hassle free way of getting rid of your unwanted car environmentally as well as donating to a charity of your choice.
The service was launched in January 2010 and works in conjunction with the national salvage operation Cartakeback to coordinate the donation of cars.
Regardless of their condition, cars are collected free-of-charge nationwide by Giveacar and sold through an online auction, or disposed of at an authorised treatment facility. Proceeds from the sale are donated to a charity of the car owner’s choice. Even if the car is scrapped, it would still net the chosen charity between £40 and £160.
Cartakeback guarantee a return for every car given them, regardless of condition, and the owner of the vehicle can choose from a list of Giveacar charities to donate the money to - with the opportunity to choose Woking Hospice or Sam Beare Hospice.
