In Memory

In Memory

Our patients and their families are at the heart of everything we do and everything that we seek to achieve going forward.

Like a hospital, care is provided free of charge for as long as it is needed. Unlike a hospital, we are a charity. It costs us £15 a minute of every day and every night to provide dignified and vital care in the hospices, through our community nursing team or through Day Care. We are only operating today due to the consideration of supporters who have recognised us in the past and together we can continue to make a difference in the future.
There are many ways in which you can remember a loved one – in memory donations in lieu of flowers at their funeral, everlasting personalised Tribute, Tree of Life, participating or holding an event. We are often asked if a bench or a plaque can be dedicated to someone no longer with us. We appreciate that giving a gift to the memory of a loved one can be therapeutic and we are keen to assist wherever possible. The problem is that there are a finite number of benches that our residents need and we also have to be clear about the environment that we are trying to create within the hospice.

We have therefore produced a short guide with some thoughts on remembering a loved one which at some point you may find it appropriate to your individual situation. We do not presume to think that it is right for everyone but we do know that for some people who we support have found such acts of remembrance can help them. For any further information, Gift Aid Donation envelopes or support, please send an email to in-memory@wsbhospices.co.uk.
