New Build Appeal
Our new hospice will open this Spring and we are now furnishing our new state-of-the-art bedrooms to make them the very best they can possibly be for our patients and their families.
Could you help us buy something from our nurses wish list? Find out how here.
The nature of hospice care is changing. People are living longer and we have seen a huge increase in patients with complex medical needs; people who require great skill and dedication from those who nurse them. Recognising this, we have begun the exciting journey of merging our in-patient and day care services. The wing of Weybridge hospital which previously was utilised by Sam Beare, is no longer occupied by our charity. This is a change to previous redevelopment plans. However, our Community Nursing team still provide the majority of our services to local people in their own homes.
This crucial move to our new state-of-the-art building will ensure that our whole service works in the best interests of our patients and their families. operating from one building will ensure that everyone has access to our superb new facilities and to the expertise and care of all of our staff, whenever they need it and wherever they live.
See how our new hospice building has been taking shape over the past 14 months in this short video.
Our new hospice will allow our staff to deliver everything our patients need Our new home will allow us to dramatically improve our hospice service for our community. The new In-Patient Unit will have 20 purpose built, private, en-suite bedrooms with family accommodation in each room, which means that, for the first time, families will be able to stay with their loved ones as long as they wish. There will be a new Wellbeing Centre where even more patients can receive a wider range of physiotherapies, complementary therapies, specialised bathing facilities and clinical support and advice, as well as benefitting from meeting others.
Our Community Nursing team will benefit too. More than 70% of all the care we provide is delivered in the patients’ own homes. We will continue to have two hubs for the team one in the new hospice in Woking and a separate base in the Weybridge area. They will have new technology to reduce administration and paperwork, allowing nurses to spend more time directly with their patients.
We launched our New Build Appeal in February 2016 to raise the £3.4m needed. With your generosity and that of local funders, businesses and trusts, we have raised nearly 50% of this. Thank you if you have donated to the Appeal so far.
However, we still have £1.9million left to raise in order to ensure the delivery of our new hospice service in the heart of Surrey that will support all of us and our loved ones for generations to come. We are asking individuals throughout our area to make a contribution. Not just those whose lives have been touched by our work, but all those who may need our support in the future. Our commitment is to be here to provide the very best hospice care available – but we will only be able to do this if we receive the support today of community members such as yourself.
We need your help today. Thank you
