Sweet Christmas Fundraising

Members of the British Sugar Craft Guild, Guildford and Woking branch, have donated 32 skillfully decorated Christmas cakes to Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. The majority will be raffled off by local companies to raise money for the charity. It’s an annual tradition that the group donates the cakes, but this year with more members they also have more cakes to give.

“We can thank popular TV programs like the Great British Bake Off, which has sparked people’s interest in cake decoration,” explains Anne Barker, Chairlady of the local British Sugar Craft Guild branch. “This year in particular the standard has been very high, and I think it’s because we feel it’s worth putting that extra bit of work in, because it’s appreciated and really helps the Hospices.”

Last year the tasty donations raised almost £4,000, and we are very grateful to the Sugar Craft Guild for all their support.

The Guildford and Woking branch of the British Sugar Craft Guild meets ever second Wednesday at the Normandy Village Hall, and anyone interested in joining can contact Anne on 01483 841176, or visit their facebook page here.
