It is 20 years since the Car Raffle began. When it launched in 1993 the team was raising funds to try and build Woking Hospice, and it took a further three years before the Hospice opened in December 1996.
The car raffle gives the opportunity to win a brand new car for just a £1, and is very popular with the local community. The volunteer car raffle team is out and about every weekend from March to October selling tickets and chatting to local people about the Hospices services.
This year’s special 20 Anniversary car raffle launched in the Peacocks Centre, Woking on Saturday 23 March, where the car – a Honda Jazz 1.2S, and the 2nd prize – a Honda NSC50R scooter were revealed.
Back in 1993, the car was sponsored by local car dealer Trident Garages, and 20 years on Trident Honda are once again sponsoring the event in their 50th Anniversary year. To mark this special occasion, they are supplying the additional second prize to help with the celebrations!
The scooter will hopefully encourage younger supporters to buy a ticket, as you can ride it on the roads if you are over 16, hold a provisional license, and are taking the Complete Compulsory Basic Training (CBT).
The draw takes place on 27 October. Tickets cost just £1 each, and you can call fundraising on 01483 881752 or send an email if you would like to help sell ticket. You can purchase tickets from the team or at Trident Honda’s sites in Guildford Road, Ottershaw and Queens Road, Weybridge.
Please note that due to a printing error the car raffle draw date is stated as Saturday 27th October 2013, this is incorrect, the car raffle draw will take place on Sunday 27th October 2013.
Terms and Conditions will remain the same and all tickets purchased up to and including Sunday 27th October 2013 will be entered into the car raffle draw.
