Complementary Therapies

We offer complementary therapy treatments alongside standard medical care because they have many beneficial effects such as aiding relaxation, reducing stress and helping to induce feelings of wellbeing.

We have a number of fully qualified volunteer therapists who are managed by a registered general nurse with palliative care experience and who holds diplomas in aromatherapy, massage and reflexology. They offer:

  • Massage
  • Arometharapy
  • Reflexology
  • Relaxation

Reflexology

Our complementary therapy treatments are non-medical treatments that help people feel better by:

  • helping control symptoms - for example: relieving muscle tension, soothing dry and brittle skin and reducing anxiety and stress which in turn can help with breathing problems
  • inducing a deep sense of relaxation - the systematic, therapeutic use of touch in massage helps relax the soft tissues of the body and can help trigger a release of emotions.
  • making someone feel special, pampered and cared for.

If you are under the care of the hospice you are, along with your family and carers, all able to benefit from treatments - subject to the availability of a therapist.

It's very rewarding to make a real difference in people’s lives. Bringing smiles to faces has to be one of the best things you can do.
