The New Hospice is coming…
Having chosen the building in Denton Way to be the home of our new Hospice, we are pleased to announce that construction works will start in October 2015.
The appointed contractors are Reside Construction from Romsey, Hampshire, who submitted the most competitive bid and at the same time impressed our Trustees with their approach to managing the project. They will ensure that building work is carried out with the minimum of disruption to neighbours and we will provide regular updates and progress reports from the site.
To share our excitement about the project we are therefore hosting a drop-in coffee morning at St Andrew’s Church on Saturday 26th September between 11am and 1pm. Anyone interested will be able to review the architects drawings and meet some of our Hospice staff to talk about our new vision for hospice care in the heart of Surrey.
In the months to come the office block in Denton Way will be converted into a state-of-the-art 20 bedded Hospice with Wellbeing Centre, therapy rooms and a base for our community teams. It’s a building that has stood empty for a number of years and we look forward to bringing light and life to this corner of Denton Way. As well as superb facilities for patients and their families, the new information centre and café will offer a welcoming environment for all who visit. We anticipate welcoming in-patient referrals from early 2017.
With the loan facility from Woking Borough Council allowing us to commence the project, we will be launching a Public Appeal in early 2016, to engage with local people, asking them to continue to support local hospice care for generations to come.
