RideLondon – Surrey 100

We have been encouraging cyclists of all abilities to get on their bikes to raise vital funds to support our hospices and the local people that use them.

One supporter has signed up with Team WSB and her training is in full swing. Emily Winkworth was brought up in Pirbright and Worplesdon and chose to raise money for the Hospices after her father was looked after at Woking Hospice 10 years ago. She said “The Hospices made a horrendous time a bit easier for us and nothing was too much trouble. They provided a huge amount of support to my dad and to our entire family and for that we’re so grateful.”

She continued “We set ourselves a target to try and raise as much money as his stay would have cost and we want to continue to fundraise, as the Hospices are such a great cause and we need to ensure that the facility continues to be there in the future for anyone who might need it.”

Miss Winkworth has been involved with numerous events in the past to raise money for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. “When I was at university a few years ago, I climbed Kilimanjaro and ran the Cardiff Half Marathon and have also done a Santa Fun Run or two!”

“Having signed up for the Ride 100 now, for me, the Hospices were an obvious choice of charity and the event is also a great one. I’ve never cycled 100 miles and I actually hate cycling uphill but it’s a great challenge. Especially as it goes out to Surrey which is where I grew up and then back into London where I live now! I’m looking forward to the challenge and to the feeling at the finish line!”
