Marguerite retires

Marguerite Watts, bid farewell to her colleagues at Woking & Sam Beare Hospices after 15 years of 
service last week.
Marguerite, from Egham qualified as a nurse in 1968 and has dedicated her life to caring for others. She spent many years working for the National Health Service in community nursing and was a District Nurse in the local area, before taking a diploma in palliative care.
Marguerite was one of the first members of staff at Woking Hospice when founder Rhod Lofting and the Trustees appointed her in 1996. She faced many challenges and was responsible for setting up the nursing and community teams. When Woking Hospice took over the management of Sam Beare Hospice in 2006 she took on the responsibility of the nursing teams at both hospices.
Rhod Lofting, founding Chairman of Woking Hospice paid tribute to Marguerite saying “When I see the many faces gathered here today, I know that we made the right decision 15 years ago. Marguerite has always risen to any challenge and has always put patient care at the top of any agenda. The nursing teams are at the heart of the Hospices and do a wonderful job and that is down to Marguerite’s dedication.”
Marguerite said “I have had a wonderful 15 years meeting some truly inspiring people along the way. I was so grateful to be given the opportunity by Rhod to be involved with Woking Hospice from the outset and am very proud of how we have developed services to offer such specialised care to patients and support their families.”
Marguerite is looking forward to spending time with her husband, children and grand-children.
She will be missed by all her work colleagues and friends at the Hospices.
