Santa Cause Success

The sun was shining, the santa suits were pulled on and at 10am on Sunday they set off from Mercedes-Benz World. Over 400 Santas took part in our Santa Fun Run our best ever year!

Extra festivities included Christmas songs from Herd of Sax, and the chance to meet Santa, not in his grotto but at the side of his red Mercedes car!

There was a real festive atmosphere and some impromptu fundraising from Nuffield Health, who armed with collecting buckets were collecting on the run. There were also some people taking part for very personal reasons. Toni Millard from West Byfleet was hoping to be well enough to take part, and surrounded by friends and family was able to do just that. She thoroughly enjoyed the day saying ” The hospice has provided me with community support, in-patient care and also provides my family with counselling during this difficult time, and I am so grateful.” It was Toni’s son Jack, 14 who completed the 2.5km course first, crossing the line with friends Joshua Coppellotti and Theo Canham.

Sue Spencer, Fundraising Events Manager thanked Mercedes-Benz World for the use of the superb location, the volunteers and of course all the participants. “Over £10,000 was pledged on the day which with online fundraising and gift aid will go up, and this will help our patients and families over the Christmas period.”
