Christmas at Sam Beare
Earlier this month Therapists Team Leader Becky and Physiotherapist Lyn spent their lunch hour giving out balloons and collecting money in Weybridge High Street to raise awareness of Sam Beare Hospice. Despite the chilly, blustery weather, the purple presence on the high street was very well received.
Becky said, “There were very complimentary comments made about Sam Beare from members of the public who knew about the work that we do; either through loved ones who have been cared for by us or because of the great publicity our service gets. We also got the chance to explain more about the Hospice to people who didn’t know about us.”
The pre-Christmas run-up is always very busy for the Therapy Team who are visiting patients in their homes to deliver all they’ll need over the holiday period. Wheelchairs and other aids get distributed in good time to allow patients to spend time in their own home or that of loved ones over the festive period. The Therapists will also be supporting the community nurses and ward staff, who will be working over the Christmas period.
At Sam Beare Hospice, the decorations are up, including the donated real tree from Maurice Mandry’s Christmas Trees, and all of the staff are now busy gearing up for Christmas. The whole team is looking forward to the Day Care Christmas lunch, which is being served up on the 22nd December, where they will be entertaining the patients with lots of fun games and singing.
Becky hopes for a peaceful Christmas at the Hospice, and is looking forward to another busy year in 2016!
