Volunteer for us

Come join our bunch!gardening day su

Volunteering with our hospices is hugely rewarding, extremely important and also… lots of fun! We say that volunteering on a regular basis is like having “one of your five-a-day”. Giving your time, learning new things and meeting great people improves your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, just like eating a banana!

Whether you are looking to use your professional talents to help a great cause and pick up a few more skills along the way, or if you are simply looking to enjoy the company of others in a fun, friendly environment, we have lots of opportunities for you to grab hold of, unpeel and enjoy.

Choose to join our bunch and you’ll be supported every step of the way with a personal approach. We will start by having an informal chat to discuss where your strengths lie and how much time you are able to commit to us and then we will fully train you in whatever role you chose to take; please note, for Counselling you will need a certificate of competence and for complementary therapies you will need to be fully qualified with an up to date insurance prior to application. Some roles require a DBS check.

These are the volunteer roles we currently have available, click on the link to find out more or click to see a full list of roles:

Collecting Tin Agent

Ebay Assistant

Retail Assistant

These are roles which require a longer-term commitment. For example one or two, plus, shifts a week, or fortnight, for the foreseeable future. Obviously plans change and we appreciate this, however we would love you to be honest when you approach us, if your current circumstances will prevent you from committing to a regular time.

If you want to help us on a more ad-hoc basis why not volunteer at our hospice events? We need support holding collection buckets, engaging with the public and ensuring the safe enjoyment of those taking part, as well as specialist Mascot Actor and Mascot Buddy volunteers to operate our mascot.

Maybe you have something completely different to offer? Perhaps you have a passion for flowers, a flair for photography or a knack for DIY and you would like to approach us to see if we can use your unique talents? Click to see a full list of volunteer roles past and present to gain inspiration and you are welcome to enquire by emailing volunteer@wsbhospices.co.uk or sending in a Volunteer Application Form. We will then get in touch to arrange a time for you to come in and meet us.
