Justgiving - Online sponsorship

Justgiving is a website that allows you to set up personal fundraising pages to collect donations for Woking Hospice or Sam Beare Hospice.  You can use these pages to collect donations for WSB in many different ways, limited only by your imagination. For example they are most often used for sponsored events such as marathons or bicycle rides but can also be used as a means of collecting donations that are not sponsorship

It is really simple to set up a Justgiving page, even if you only have basic computing skills, and it can make fundraising for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices very simple and hassle free. It will take about five minutes to register and create a basic page. You can then personalise your page as much as you want with photos, video and text.

To set up a page visit www.justgiving.com/wokinghospice/raisemoney or www.justgiving.com/sambearehospice/raisemoney If you are taking part in an event to raise money for both Hospices, then you will need to say this in the text and inform us and the money will be divided accordingly. Click on 'Create Your Page' then just follow the instructions on the screen. If you have any problems you can email help@justgiving.net

People can donate to our hospices via your page with any major credit or debit card. They can also leave messages on your page to accompany their donation. Justgiving pays all money received for us every week which means the money reaches us more quickly than if your sponsors were to write cheques or pay cash. Justgiving also automatically reclaim the Gift Aid on all eligible donations.

Five tips for successful fundraising with a Justgiving page:

1. Personalise your message
The best fundraising pages tell a really good story. Let people know why you're going to the trouble of raising money, and they're much more likely to take the time to donate. Explain why you have chosen to support WSB, some of your sponsors may not have heard of us so you need to tell them why you are going to the effort of raising funds for us.

2. Add photos and video
A personal photo makes your page much more engaging. You can also add Youtube Videos that, along with photos will help to bring your page to life. The more interesting, compelling and imaginative the more likely your supporters are to send your page on to their friends.

3. Tell everyone about your page
Before you email your entire address book, ask your closest friends and family to donate first. An empty page can be a bit intimidating, so having a couple of donations on the page should encourage other sponsors. People tend to match the amounts already listed on the page, so if they're generous ones, all the better!
Email your other contacts in groups(e.g. colleagues, running club, friends overseas, etc) personalising your message each time.

4. Put a link in your email signature
Add your page's web address, or one of Justgiving's 'sponsor me' badges, to your email signature. That way, every email you send raises awareness of your fundraising and attracts more donations.

5. Get a Widget or Badge
You can add an animated Justgiving Widget to your website, Blog, Facebook or MySpace page to advertise your page. Click here for more information.
