Car Raffle 2008
After 7 months of selling raffle tickets the winner of the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices car raffle was announced on October 25th 2008. Sally Walker of Woking was the winner of a Honda Civic 1.8-litre petrol hatchback kindly sponsored by Trident Honda.
The Managing Director of Trident, Richard Roberts, presented the car to the winner at their Ottershaw branch.
Sally was thrilled with her win and said "I bought my ticket from Virginia Edwards, one of the volunteer team who has always encouraged me to support the raffle. I am absolutely delighted, you never dream when you buy a ticket that you are actually going to win, I still keep pinching myself".
We raised £50,266 for our Hospices
The car raffle is one of the major fundraising events and the 2008 event raised £60,272 gross, £50,266net. Sales are co-ordinated by a volunteer team who are out most weekends from April to October. The team is fantastic; Karoll Frost sold an amazing £26,000 and Virginia Edwards £10,000 and the whole team ensure that all local people know about the Hospices and buy a ticket!
