The Trustees of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices are all Directors of both companies.

Marc RiggsMarc Riggs, Chairman

A chartered surveyor and town planner, Marc has worked in the property industry for some thirty years. Previously a partner of a regional property consultancy firm, Marc now runs a number of development companies delivering office, industrial, retail and residential schemes in and around the south-east.

He has been a Trustee since July 2012, and was elected Chairman by unanimous vote of the Board in November 2015.


Tim Stokes, Vice Chairman

A communications professional, Tim enjoyed a career in the construction materials industry of over 30 years with multinational companies RMC Group and CEMEX, working in the areas of strategic corporate communications, public affairs and sustainability.

He joined the Board in March 2017 after developing a deep understanding of the hospices and of the opportunities and challenges facing the wider hospice movement at a local and national level.


Rhod LoftingRhod Lofting BA DL, Woking Hospice Founder & Life President

After retiring from Esso, during which time Rhod also served 12 years as a Borough Councillor, he launched the appeal for Woking Hospice when he became Mayor in 1990. He raised £1.4million to build and open the hospice in 1996 and to conserve funds also ran the hospice as a volunteer for the first three years. Rhod remained as Board Chairman until 2007, when he stood down to continue as a Trustee.


David PerryDavid Perry BSc (Econ) FCA

David Perry, a retired accountant from Guildford, joined the Board of Trustees in 2004 and was elected Chairman in 2004. In November 2015, following his 70th birthday, he stood down but continues to serve on the Board and also Chairs the Finance Committee.


Sian WicksSian Wicks

Having lived in North Surrey for approximately 20 years, Sian officially became a Trustee in April 2015.




James Harrison ID Ref MAG1933Chris Dunstan

Having worked as a GP in West Byfleet since 1978, Chris started GP commissioning in 1992 and continued to be involved in health care commissioning until he retired in 2012. He was a lead clinician in an audit of health and social care and also an advisor to the National Service Framework for older people. Chris has been a Trustee since July 2012.

Having worked as a GP in Weybridge for 37 years and having had close contact with Sam Beare Hospice in the care of patients of in her practice Anne joined the board in 2012 and sits on the Clinical Services Committee.



Peter Goodyear CroppedPeter Goodyear

Having retired from his career in Petrofac, Peter joined the board in August 2015. He has considerable experience in business administration at senior levels within the private sector and is looking forward to an active role as a Trustee for our hospices, developing our excellent services even further.



Sue JonesSue Jones

As a retired IT consultant, who worked with a number of blue chip companies, Sue serves on the Fundraising Committee and also attends community functions where possible. She works as a volunteer on the lottery team and has been a Trustee since May 2008.


Simon OxleySimon Oxley





Peter LovibondPeter Lovibond

After a 30 year career in banking, most recently at Commerzbank in London, Peter joined the Board of Trustees in 2015. Having lived in Woking for many years, this is his first voluntary commitment after retiring and he is looking forward to supporting the hospices.


Piers MeadowsPiers Meadows

The Managing Partner of Meadows Ryan Solicitors, Piers trained and worked with Mayer, Brown Rowe & Maw (now Mayer Brown) prior to joining Meadows Fraser in 2003. He joined our Board of Trustees in February 2015.


Richard Roberts

Managing Director of local family business Trident, Richard has worked in the Motor Trade and Fuel Retailing business for over 30 years, as a freehold owner now also getting involved in development opportunities. Richard has been involved with the hospices since the early 1990’s as a sponsor and joined the board of trustees in March 2017.

Tony Jarvis

Tony is a former Marketing Director of Pretty Polly, which won Institute of Marketing Gold Award three times, Burton Retail, Puma UK and Triumph UK. He has also been a member of the Contour Ball Charity for 5 years and Chairman for 2 years, raising money for the Retail Trust and The Textile Industry Children’s Trust. He was also Managing Director of Gossard and Berlei and retired in 2015. Tony is now a Non-Exec for two companies outside Woking. He has a wife, 2 children and lives in Woking
